# Sayburst

> Private Mac dictation with recovery built in.

Sayburst is a menu bar dictation app for Apple Silicon Macs. Hold fn to speak, then insert the transcript into the app you are using. Whisper and Parakeet run locally for speech transcription. Custom vocabulary and text replacements help with names and technical terms, while per-app modes adapt the writing workflow. Local history and clipboard recovery let you recover a transcript when focus or insertion interrupts the workflow. Optional cloud writing features can send transcript text and enabled context to your configured provider. Sayburst requires macOS 14 or later and Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). The seven-day trial needs no account or card. Solo costs $29 once for one Mac; Personal costs $49 once for three Macs. Both include 1.x updates.
